Experiments going through. Await further results. Item 9 on last Agenda. - Steering generally. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/MA.7.8.32. Refers to complaint Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} received criticising our steering. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has experiments in hand. To be left on minutes for further reference. Item 9a on last Agenda. Quieter Second gear. It appears necessary to take steps to obtain quieter running second speed gears in view of the quieter third gears obtained with the S.M. gearboxes. Still experimenting. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will have a gearbox with a silent second speed running next week. To be left on minutes. Not on Agenda. Question of braking on front of car. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} referred to 2 complaints - one from a Mr. Thomas and the other from a Mr. Sears. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said he had a scheme which could be fitted to these two cars, but Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} asked if it would be safe to fit. During the discussion Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} asked if the scheme had been tested out sufficiently well, and had it been standardised? Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} agreed it had not been standardised, and Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} therefore instructed that we must not fit Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}' scheme to either car until a Standardisation Sheet is issued and approved. | ||
