MATTERS ARISING OUT OF MINUTES OF CONFERENCE - MARCH 9/1933.

CHASSIS.

MINUTE I. J.II. or J.III Progress generally.

Self-adjusting tappets.

PRESENT POSITION.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} states "We are issuing two improvements on these which we think will overcome the remaining faults of the system as tested.
Firstly, low pressure oil feed to the rams to overcome starvation of oil to certain rams. Secondly, a modified valve to overcome the ignition starting trouble.

MINUTE 2. PEREGRINE GENERALLY.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} states "We have now two Peregrine cars running with two alternative schemes of oil cooler. One is the scheme designed by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} which has special tubes incorporated in the matrix, the other car is fitted up with a Harrison type cooler which is standard on all General Motors cars. Tests are being carried out on Brooklands today (23.5.33) to prove the efficiency of these coolers."

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} states "We are making satisfactory progress with the final arrangement of the Peregrine carburetter and induction pipe."

"Now that the oil cooler seems to be shaping well on test, we are going over the engine to clean it up generally regarding the oil system. We are cancelling the oil cooling ribs on the sump, and providing for a freer overflow from the ignition driving gears."

"We are hoping to save a fair amount of weight on the Peregrine cylinder and crankcase casting by removing a considerable amount of the webbing we do not think is necessary, at the same time improving the casting. This will naturally require Experimental confirmation."
