(8) Art. 8-C. - As a precautionary measure, the fuel will be supplied to competitors at distributing stations installed in front of the pits, along the edge of the roadway, on the shelf of the pit itself. This installation has been carried out with the co-operation of the Standard Françai-se des Pétroles and of the Société des Pétroles Jupiter (Shell). Figure II. - Installation of a fuel distributing station. Each distributor device comprises a flexible pipe with an instantaneous shut-off trigger cock and a nozzle for direct introduction of the fuel into the tank of the car. As a precautionary measure the use of a funnel is strictly prohibited. The feed end of the flexible pipe is provided with an instantaneous shut-off valve for use in the event of failure of the trigger cock. There is a head of fuel on the distributors from a 220 gallon cylinder placed about I3 feet above ground level (see figure II). The cylinder is provided with a large diameter filter and the fuel is drawn off at a certain height above the bottom of the gravity loaded tank so as to avoid any possibility of an accidental discharge of water which might accumulate through decantation or condensation.
