To H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} from B.J. -> Copies to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} HP. X4538 BJ3/H28.11.22. GOSHAWK WEIGHT. With reference to R4/M23.11.22, the maximum body weight agreed by you, and to which we have built our bodies and made our agreements with coachbuilders, is ..................... 1000 lbs. The weight of spares, etc. (agreed by W.) is .. 149 " The weight of the chassis, with fuel, etc., (agreed by W.) is ................... 2378 " Total ................... 3527 " = 31½ cwt. In your memorandum you suggest that the weight of body, spares, chassis, with fuel, etc. shall not exceed ............ 30 cwt. As I presume the weight of chassis and spares cannot be reduced, your suggestion would necessitate reducing the weight of the body by ................... 1½ cwt. I am not quite sure whether this was your intention, as I fear it would be quite impossible. The weight of the body, spares and chassis is ........................ 31½ cwt. If the Guarantee is to cease at .. 39 cwt., as it is this only leaves for passengers and luggage ........................ 7½ cwt. This allows for six passengers an average of 10-stone each and no luggage, which would appear to be a reasonable and fair maximum weight. It would seem very difficult for us to reduce. B.J. | ||
