X4190 EH. from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to By c. to Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}12/F23.10.19. RE. FIT OF GUDGEON PINS. Will you please arrange to issue standard instructions with reference to the fitting of gudgeon pins. These I consider are still too tight in the pistons, and in some cases are causing distortion. I recommend that instructions be issued that the gudgeon pins should be a close push fit; at the same time there should be a good surface bedding between the gudgeon pin and the piston, i.e. similar to the practice on the aero engines. I am anxious not to be misunderstood on this matter, and I am not recommending a slack fit. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
