Herewith is N. scheme 3647 shewing a suggestion for a roller bearing sliding joint on the propeller shaft which was recently made by R.{Sir Henry Royce}
We think the drawing is self explanatory.
Of the two types of cage shewn we think we prefer the upper one.
If it is found that the needle bearing universal joint - which we believe is practically universal in America - is a success, the use of this roller bearing slider would mean that very little attention to the lubrication of the propeller shaft is needed.
We have drawn the joint suitable for the Peregrine but of course it can be easily adapted to another car.
