Copy for Mr. Robotham. W/5. 29th December, 1938. Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Edgware Road, The Hyde, N.W. 9. For the attention of Mr. Bellringer. Dear Sirs, The enclosed is a copy of a letter we have had from a driver and we are a little at a loss to know how to reply to it. If the car was in for a general overhaul we should have been inclined to have advised that the battery be looked at as it has done nearly five years' work and has another winter before it and must be nearing the end of its life. Such advice, however, would be directly contrary to what appears to have been given at Cricklewood. The condition at this stage would largely depend on the charging of the battery. If it had had rather a lot of charging without much use one would expect a certain amount of sediment to be there, but in any case we think the advice should be to have it examined. Perhaps the influence of Sir Henry Royce in the Chichester area has extended to such an extent that it even helps the life of the batteries! Yours faithfully, PETO & RADFORD. | ||
