Dear Bill, As you may have heard, I have at last got my new "Bentley", and so far as the body is concerned I can confirm all you said about the "second edition". It is, undoubtedly, a better job, but I am not quite so happy about the engine. The car does not appear to have such a good performance as my original one, and at low speeds I am sure there is a slight piston slap on one or two cylinders. As the car has only done 500 miles, I thought it only fair to warn you of this, so that a piston might be replaced before any wear takes place in the block. I am not particularly anxious to lay up the car for a week or so, but as I am going to Switzerland on the 1st or 2nd of February I thought you might elect to do the job then, if you consider it necessary. Otherwise, everything is very nice, including the shock absorber control on which I previously poured contempt, but I withdraw this entirely and am now of the opinion that it is a valuable addition to the car. I hope all is going well with you, including the "Rover". With kind regards, Yours sincerely, Grevilee Rollason W.Rowbottom, Esq., Rolls-Royce,Limited, Derby. | ||
