re. Squeaking Brakes.

We are still having complaints of squeaking brakes - more generally in regard to the 20-HP cars, but occasionally in regard to the 40/50 HP.cars also.

We shall be glad to know if you are yet able to inform us what we are to tell the Depots as to how to deal with such complaints in cancellation of the instructions issued some time ago to insert powdered graphite.

We understood, in conversation with you a week or so ago, that you would endeavour to make the necessary arrangements so that instructions could be issued for the present standard scheme to be adapted to overcome squeaking brakes, to be applied on cars in service on which complaints of squeaking brakes were received, but that it was necessary for you to get the agreement both of the Experimental Dept. and of the Administration.

We shall be glad to know what is the present position, as we are anxious to circularise the Depots as soon as possible on this matter, and to send them the necessary material and instructions as to how to deal with these complaints.

We have received an urgent telephone message from an owner this morning, to the effect that the brakes on both his 40/50 and 20-HP cars are continually squeaking, and urging us for some definite means of cure. Can anything be done quickly, please, to satisfy this owner?

Thn.
