X3854 23.2.26 Bumper test on Woodheads front road springs - 8 clip type. Woodhead front spring Fg193 (1150 lbs) fitted to the OFF side ran 26 1/4 hrs. before breaking. The break occurred in the top leaf, it being a complete but fairly even fracture 1 7/8" to the rear of the central taper bolt, this being just underneath the clip sheath. FRACTURE Woodhead front spring Fg193 (1100 lbs) fitted to the NEAR side ran 29 3/4 hrs. before breaking. The break occurred in the top leaf, it being a complete & rather jagged fracture 2" to the rear of the central taper bolt, this being just underneath the clip sheath. The taper bolt also sheared off 1/8" from the head. FRACTURE FRACTURE of BOLT. | ||
