RECEIVED OCT 14 1926

40/50-HP. Chassis - P & R Batteries.

Upon receipt of By {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /Cghl/H6-10-26, we wrote Messrs Peto & Radford, asking them to explain how it came about that the cells they are fitting in their R.R.ll Batteries, are of greater height than fixed by our specification No.301, which means that their cells are not interchangeable with the cells supplied by the Chloride Electrical Storage Company for the same batteries.

We have now received a letter from Messrs Peto & Radford, copy of which is hereto attached.

From said letter it would appear that the height of the P.&.R Cell case, has from the beginning exceeded the height of the Exide Cell Case, although the overall height of the two cells is approximately the same.

One would have thought this difference would not have existed seeing that Messrs Peto & Radford and the Exide Company were associated in the determination of the dimensions with a view to interchangeability.

If you consider it necessary or advisable to carry this matter further, I shall be pleased to communicate with Messrs Peto & Radford, any remarks you may put forward.

Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead}
