Dear Sirs,

Re Phantom Chassis.

We have your letter of the 8th instant, and regret that owing to the absence of the writer, we were unable to reply to it yesterday.

The position with regard to the Model C150 plug is that having found this plug so satisfactory, we have standardised it a our standard steatite detachable plug and are not now making any other standard size steatite insulated plug. It therefore becomes unnecessary from our point of view to continue adding the No."150 to the type designation "C". We are afraid that, when the decision was reached in our Works to discontinue stamping the number on the plugs, it was overlooked to advise you and request your approval. We trust, however, with the assurance that the plugs though not so marked are actually of the C150 design, and that this plug now being solely standardised we shall not be making or supplying any other pattern of steatite plug, you will agree that the numbering is no longer necessary and approve the omission of the numbers in future.

With regard to your last paragraph, the 1,000 plugs called for in your letter of the 6th instant have been despatched (on the 7th instant by L.M.S. goods train) and you will appreciate from the above that these plugs are of the approved C150 design but stamped "C" only.

We very much regret any inconvenience which the confusion due to these numbers has caused you, but you will appreciate that the plug has been designed and developed largely to suit the requirements of your engine, and it was imperative during the stages of development to have means of distinguishing the different variations of design.

Yours faithfully,

LODGE PLUGS LIMITED.
