- 2 - HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/RH.{R. Hollingworth}1/VS.{J. Vickers}23.6.37. Spring Drive (Continued). outside edge of the centre plate and the rear flywheel, causing partial seizure and extensive burring on the centre plate. There is .004" annular clearance between the flywheel and centre plate and we think that this could be increased without detriment to the damper, to prevent a recurrence of this trouble which might cause failure of the centre plate. Apart from the above, the damper was in good condition. Connecting Rods LOP.EB.2704. These were crack tested and found to be O.K. The big-end bearings in A/C.7. were in excellent condition, though somewhat distorted when measured. No. 4 bearing cap-half was slightly cracked and was accidentally broken after dismantling. Herewith chart giving the dimensions. Pistons LOP.EB.2633. Pistons EB.2844.0.14. - these were previously reported 25. 5. 37., and it will be remembered that all pistons, with the exception of No. 5, were cracked. Measurements were also submitted on the same date. Cylinders EB.2715. Special cylinder block made by the Midland Cylinder Co., with a Brinell figure of 205-214. The dimensions of the cylinder bores were also given at the same time as those of the pistons above. Wear was small for the mileage. Valves and Fittings LOP.EB.2708. EB.2793. Inlet Valves in S/SLV. were in good condition, wear being normal. No valves were cracked. EB.2970. Exhaust Valves in KE.965 Stellited - these valves have recently been standardised, being stronger in the neck and radius than the previous standard valves EB.2794. continued. | ||
