X4254 RE GOSHAWK II - SLIDING UNIVERSAL COUPLING.

We are sending, under separate cover, the wooden model of the above joint.

The end view on Lec.1363 shews the projecting forks cut back about .075 on either side of the lines at 45°, but in the process of detailing it, it was discovered that if this were done it would not give a contour on the rear fork like that shewn at the top of Lec.1363. Accordingly, in the model this fork is left only slightly backed off from the 45° line, but it will be seen that this does not effect the motion of the joint, as the limit in each case is the bush coming against the collar of the fork.

The shape of the fork ends on the forward fork has been made similar to that of the rear fork. Mr Royce may like the larger radius with which the fork ends on the forward fork run into the flange part.
