| JOHN SUMMERS & SONS, LIMITED, SHOTTON, CONTINUANCE No. 1. 8th. February, 1935. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq., oil out of the back axle, and could find no trace of grit or powdered metal. I put in new oil, and have run the car about 25 miles since, and can get no noise from the axle under any conditions. I wonder if anything has siezed up and then freed itself again; if this had been the case I should have expected to have found something in the oil. Is it possible, owing to the very small amount of oil which the axle holds, that on a frosty morning when the oil is cold and the car is running down hill, that the teeth of the bevel wheels may become momentarily dry ? Perhaps you have had a similar experience at some time or other. Anyhow, I will ring you up in the morning about 9.30. Yours ever, [Signature] | ||
