Referring to EP {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} /CEP24/H101023, I have examined the returned motor and deleted from it one of the broken washers. I am carefully testing this washer for quality of material and its condition from a heat treatment point of view.

I will consider the issue from the point of view of making the washer from chrome vanadium spring steel as soon as I can obtain delivery of the material in question. This would represent the best we can possibly do under the circumstances. We will inform you if, and when, we make the change.

In the meantime we have instructed Mr Brock to build up the motor free of charge and will inform BP. and yourself whether it will have to be charged R.D.M. or A.T.D. At present this issue is in doubt.
