Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/HAH/17.10.30 contd. -3- be very trying on a Continental road. Suspension. Very soft in spite of double acting hydraulic dampers. They appear to have more spring deflection than we do as the pitching speed seems slightly lower. 10-30 - softer than R.R. a very good ride. 30-45 - slightly better for pitching over bus waves but they still have a long way to go to solve the problem. High Speeds - Too much movement. Prefer R.R. springing but the Cadillac is a great deal better than most american cars. Consumption. Figure given to customers 8 - 9 M.P.G. 12 CYLINDER MAYBACH. 80° V.{VIENNA} 3 1/8 x 3 15/16 = 5900 c.c. Top gear 3.5 Third 5.65 We drove this car but were unable to try it ona road permitting high speed. As far as we could judge, the engine was smooth at speed and commendably free from fuss. Probably its high top gear ratio contributes largely to this result. The steering appears to be free from shocks. We have already reported on the gear box. The price of the chassis less duty is £1250 and the 7 seater limousine £1650 at Friedrichshafen. Delivery was a fortnight to three weeks at the Salon. | ||
