Suggestions on existing P.II Instruction Book as applied to L.H. P.II. ----------------------- Based on instruction book for W.J. series. American instruction book referred to has been handed to Mr. Walker. Frontispiece (p.2) Revise from 2nd Expl. car. (p.4) "Klaxon Horn". Will not be fitted and separate instructions for care of new horn will not be necessary. Buzzer horn requires practically no attention. (p.5) Addresses. Propose add list of American and Canadian addresses which should be obtained from R.R.A.I. (p.6) Contents. Order may be revised. "System of Periodic Inspection" p.17. should be eliminated. This has been tried in U.S. and has worked to our disadvantage. "Petrol" is not used in U.S. Suggest revision to "Fuel" throughout book, this being a universal term. (p.7) "Clutch & Transmission". In U.S. "transmission" means gearbox only. Suggest - "Clutch, gearbox, propeller shaft & rear axle." (p.13) "Tracing an Earth". American term is "ground". Suggest "Electrical fault location". (p.17) Rolls Royce system of periodic inspection: should be deleted - see above. Suggest inserting "foreword" and notes on "branches and maintenance Depots" from American instruction Book. (p.18) Secret of successful running. This corresponds to Chap.1 of Am.Inst.Book "Essentials for successful running" but I think is simpler and better. Reference should be made I think to the oils marketed by R.R.A.I. depots. See Am.Inst.Book. Whether these same oils apply to P.II depends somewhat on Mr. Hives' tests. (The R.R. oils correspond to those I have recommended for test in France.) The recommendation of specific brands of oil had to be abandoned in the U.S. because of the hundreds of brands. (p.19) For "accumulator" read "battery". For "four speed and reverse side control" read "central control". Wheels. Still in doubt. Have recommended 20 x 7 wellbase. Suggest deletion. cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
