Contd:-6- Item 6 contd. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} requested Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to provide him with a revised list of experimental features which will be on 19-EX. Item 7 on agenda. Re 18-G-4 and further test for Continental Models. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that he did not recommend making a continental model China which would have to have a higher compression and S.U. carburetters. The higher compression would necessitate the use of doped fuel to eliminate detonations, and this is not desirable, China is not so suitable for this work as Japan. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that he would like to run 18-G-4 on road tests in England to test exhaust system and gear box mods. He will submit proposals to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Item 8 on agenda. Magneto ignition on 40/50, see Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst4/AD25.1.32 and Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}14/E27.1.32. Magneto ignition on 20/25, see Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst5/AD25.1.32 and Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}15/E27.1.32 Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said that he does not wish to delete the magneto at present from 40/50 because of sales policy and other reasons explained. The same remarks apply also to 20/25. Item 9 on agenda. Re Woodhead Springs, see Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}23/E20.1.32 and Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}9/T26.1.32. Not discussed. Item 10 on agenda. Independent springing and position re design. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} stated that DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} has stopped work on this and may do nothing more on it until R's return. Item 11 on agenda. Re testing in France and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}7/MJ21.1.32. Not discussed. Item 12 (not on agenda) Tool Kit. The question of spanners was raised by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and R's objections to double ended ones were noted. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will write to R.{Sir Henry Royce} to try to get his approval to the use of double ended spanners. Contd: | ||
