Dear Robotham,

I was very interested in your letter of the 22nd inst.

We have had considerable experience with varying breakdown voltage on spark plug gaps and are aware of a number of factors which govern this and also its subsequent effect on the ability of the spark to cause ignition of weak mixtures, but it is certainly new to us that oxydisation of the points has any bearing on the matter and we should be more than interested to see if we can help in any way.

Our best research engineer for this work, Barrington, is unfortunately down with the "Flu" at the moment and with your permission I should like to defer it for a few days until I can send him over. If, however, the matter is of extreme urgency I could arrange for another engineer from the ignition section to come down, but would like a line from you on this first.

Yours sincerely,

Oliver Lucas
