Dear Bill,

It seems a long time since I heard from you, but I gather that you are in fairly close touch with Dick and Neville, and that you are busy devising in great secrecy, a new and revised edition of the Bentley car. I am afraid I have got to be satisfied with what I have got, so that while I shall be interested to see the improvements, I can only afford to admire them on somebody else's car. As Dick's and Neville's cars have been into Derby for certain modifications, - I rather guess front axle and new cylinder head - I was wondering whether you are taking all the cars in rotation and making these changes, and if so about when may I expect an application from you to send my own?

I have so far failed to find any serious weaknesses with the chassis, though my dissatisfaction with the body work is intense. This recent spell of wintry weather has, however, revealed two serious faults in chassis design which I thought would interest you. Firstly, between my house and the works this morning, I filled both sides of the bonnet with snow up to the level of the base of the cylinders; on one side this resulted in the clogging of the throttle, and on the other side a certain amount of mis-firing resulted from large flakes of snow which splashed on to the coil. My second complaint is that the brakes were all the time quite useless owing to the fact that
