- 6 - 5. Tool Box - 2501 Std. SS{S. Smith}/A-11983 and complete set of details. This tool box is built as a mate to the battery box A-12009. The chief feature in making this box is to keep it watertight. 6. Accessories - Air Cleaner. A-10474 Arrgt. of Carburettor. A-11173 Air Cleaner. A-7965 Spray Chamber. A-7967 Carburettor Body. A-14350 Air Intake. Shows construction of single intake carburettor and air passages. Oil Filter - Standard "Purolator". A-10430 Arrgt. of L.H. Side of Engine. A-12474 Arrgt. of Oil Filter. A-12475 Oil Filter. A-9973 Timing Gear Oil Pipe Assy. The location of the purolator is shown accurately on A-10430 but the latest arrangement of the piping is shown on A-12474. In this connection it is to be noted that for correct operation of the purolator the feed pipe must be restricted on this engine, consisting of not less than 18 inches of .187 OD pipe. Note that the overflow from the purolator is carried to the timing gears where it is poured onto the mating teeth of the idler gear and generator pinion. This filter is a bypass filter on the high pressure line. Oil Filter - Plate Type. A-13725 Arrgt. of Oil Filter. A-14807 Oil Filter. A-13726 Oil Connection. A-13729 Screw. This represents a scheme to replace the standard purolator with a disc type cleanable filter. In this case the filter passes all the oil that is fed to the main bearings, the feed to the timing gears being limited by a restriction in the bolt A-13729. This has been run successfully on MX{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}-5. On the experimental installation - A-13725 - two interferences were met - - continued - | ||
