CARL A.{Mr Adams} NERACHER 225 Covington Drive DETROIT, MICHIGAN Mr. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 2 You will note that no grinding of gear teeth has been done on the small transmission you will receive and that ordinary production limits used on high production jobs are used throughout. Considering this I feel it is an exceedingly good job and is better, or I mean quieter, than any other type transmission in commercial production that we know of in this country. Chrysler's experience in commercial production indicates that it is easier (much easier) to get the quietness desired from the spool gear type transmission than from either helical or herringbone types. I hope you can arrange to try the transmission that is being sent, which is 175 ft. lb. capacity on one of your smaller cars just as you receive it. What I mean is, before taking the gears out of this box and applying them to a special box. If you can do this it will give you a quick feel of the gears and clutches and perhaps bring you to a quicker decision as to what you want to do. The small transmission can be shipped in about two weeks, and I will be glad to have your reaction after you have tested it. I will also be glad to be of any personal service I can, and shall keep in the closest touch with Mr. Pearson, who will handle the negotiations direct. Mr. Olley has told me considerable about you, which accounts for the more or less personal strain of this letter, feeling that we are both up against many of the same experimental and manufacturing troubles most of our time. Who can tell but that before this matter is settled I may have the pleasure of meeting you; in the meantime my kindest regards. Yours very sincerely, C. A.{Mr Adams} Neracher CAN/S | ||
