-2- of the low speed valve from rotating. No other alteration is necessary. We have sent through to the Shops an experimental set in accordance with scheme A.{Mr Adams} The tests with the rough device fitted up in the Experimental Dept. have been very satisfactory so far, except that the felt pad became soaked with petrol and caught fire on the occasion of a "pop back". For this reason you will notice that the schemes have been shown without a felt pad and the valve made a face fit. Mr Platford reports that there is a certain lag in the pick-up which is due to shortage of petrol. This shortage does not occur with our present scheme as there is a certain amount of loose petrol in the carburetter just previous to picking up.
