X2677 COPY. To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring}5/KT.11.10.33. THREE BOLT MOUNTING FOR S.U. PETROL PUMPS. Re. the above, we notice that once the pumps are fitted to the casting, it will be impossible to pass the base bolts into position, owing to the fact that they will foul the pumps. As the S.U. Co. are supplying the pumps complete they will no doubt set the diaphragms correctly before fastening the pumps to the casting. This will mean that we have to remove the pumps again before we can place the bolts into position, and so upset the diaphragm setting again. We suggest that either we supply S.U. with the necessary bolts to fit during erection, or that the bolts be replaced by 3 - 2 BA. studs if you think the latter a satisfactory method.
