EAC.10.
Although it may be policy to go go along with one of the EAC.10 type chassis to start with, it will be necessary to have at least 4 or 6 of these cars to carry out experimental work in connection with this entirely new chassis.
It will be realised that when we come on to EAC.2, it will be the biggest move we have ever made; it is an entirely new chassis from one end to the other.
When producing the 20 HP. we found it was necessary to have 6 experimental cars - when producing 4-wheel brakes on the Phantom we used 6 experimental cars - when we produced the present Phantom we used 6 experimental cars.
We cannot possibly take the risk of going into the production of EAC.10 except by judging the car on the average results obtained on 6 cars.
This will mean that we shall require a whole range of bodies for these chassis. We are quite in agreement with the policy that the first body should be one which is not conspicuous; it should be an orthodox type. It is however essential that it should be mounted on a subframe because this avoids us having to send the chassis to the coachbuilders. We only wish to prepare you that we shall finally require 6 bodies. We do not think that anything should be done as regards this until we have made more progress with the first chassis.
