1293 EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HFP.12/JH 12th. July, 1939. Vandervell Products Ltd., Western Ave., Park Royal, LONDON.W.3. Your reference FL/LT. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of July 4th. and trust that the information contained in this letter is all that you require. We should like to take the thrust directly on the case, but think there may be seizure when this is done. We should, therefore, like to have your recommendation as to the thrust washer you consider it advisable to employ. We notice in your letter that you suggest that the thrust washer should be 1/16" thick because it is very narrow. We should like to point out that if we find it unsatisfactory the thrust directly on the case, we could try to take it on the case through a thrust washer. This would mean that the washer could have an area equal to that of the boss into which the existing bushes are pressed. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
