PY. FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} SECRET. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M23.4.31. C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} JAPAN 3. x5770. There are a number of drawings which have been sent to R.{Sir Henry Royce} and not commented upon for some weeks. We take this to mean that they are at any rate provisionally approved. We are therefore sending you these drawings because they are less liable to damage with you than with us, though we do not expect you are in a position to work on them. Also it gives you an idea of the design of J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. as far as it has gone. The drawings are the following:- N. sch. 3231. Foot and hand brake differentials. " 3257. Clutch modified in accordance with R3/M3431. " 3245. Clutch pedal and operating link. " 3252. Brake pedal. " 3235. Seating positions. " 3248/9.Dashboard arrangement. (The method of fixing this latter at the frame is dependent on the type of engine suspension adopted so we shall have to send you additional information about that. We also have to shew you the cut through dashboard but as this has not yet been submitted to R.{Sir Henry Royce} we cannot say whether it will be accepted.) N. sch. 3247. Front axle forging. " 3254. Rudge-Whitworth wheel applied to front axle. The arrangement of the front axle - N. sch. 3246. - will follow in a day or two. Would you kindly return us prints as soon as possible so that we may have them available for discussion with R.{Sir Henry Royce} if necessary. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
