Mr Johnson. Mr Royce. EXPERIMENTAL DEPT. "A" Weekly Report. Reports have been sent in on - X.117 - Piston distortion using rubber disc to represent gas pressure. X. 53 - Tests of Benzol. X.472 - Valve Springs tempered in oil bath. Work in progress :- Valve Springs - X.586 We are now testing Valve Springs made at the works from Woodhead's steel wire. Hydraulic Shock Absorbers. - X.235 We have made tests with these shock absorbers on the rear of a car fitted with an enclosed body. For the test we cleaned the leaves of the springs but did not put any grease on them. We had both hydraulic and friction shock absorbers fitted so that we could change over from one to the other or disconnect both altogether. We could appreciate the difference with either of them on or off, but I could not appreciate the difference between the hydraulic ones and the friction. Road shocks are a most difficult thing to give a report on. We are making some further tests with these shock | ||
