RE DUNLOP STEEL WHEELS.
---------------------

Further to BY31/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 19. 6. 24. and in reply to C/MH{M. Huckerby}26/4. 7. 24. we feel that the position in regard to steel wheels must of course be difficult, and continue to be difficult for some little time to come, as it is obvious to us that since R.{Sir Henry Royce} has turned down our scheme which has been tested, it will be necessary for the following procedure to be gone through:-

a/- A new design to be got out by West WitteringHenry Royce's home town.

b/- Parts to be completed in the Experimental Dept.

c/- After completion, a 10,000 miles test will be necessary since the design will materially differ from the one we have previously produced.

In regard to a/-, we have written Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} again, sending him a copy of your memo, urging him to make as much progress as possible on the job. This is the third or fourth time we have written Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} since the matter was raised.

In regard to b/-, we consider it will take us at least a month to six weeks to obtain the wheels and special hubs after the designs are completed.

c/-, the 10,000 mile test will take at least, if done intensively, one month to five weeks.
