regulating valve the other side of the throttle would also avoid any leakage of air past the valve affecting the slow running of the engine.

I consider that any automatic device worked by the vacuum would be very delicate and unreliable as the difference in pressures when the throttle is wide open is so small; it would also be liable to be affected by the viscosity of the oil.

I think the system of extra oil which is being fitted to the aero engine is most promising because there the pressure of the extra oil will be under the control without affecting the oil to the bearings.
