WRAITH III & PHANTOM III BACK AXLE.

With reference to the attachment of the axle tubes to the centre casing side plates, and the side plates to the aluminium centre. Now that drills in 1/64" sizes are available to us, we suggest that the drilling of the bolt holes should be arranged to give clearances as on our recently issued scheme of the Bentley - N.Sch:5192, that is, the outer row of bolts should have 1/64th. clearance holes in both the casing and the side plate, and the inner row of bolts should have 1/64th clearance in the axle tube flange and size holes in the centre plate.

Compared with the original 1/32" clearance holes, the rotation is reduced to half at the large radius and to one quarter at the small bolt circle.

If it is thought to be economy, the long bolts for the centre casing can be made from bright rod with a nut riveted on for the head.

R/HAY.
