X4050 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY8/N.5.9.29. Re: 7" Tyres on 40/50 h.p. Cars. If it is proposed to test, with a view to standardising the 7" tyres to replace the present 6½" tyres it will be necessary to modify the spare wheel carrier. The space available at the moment only just permits of a 6½" tyre being used when allowing for all manufacturing limits on the parts. Will you therefore please let us know definitely your views on this matter so that a design may be prepared to give adequate clearance all round. We feel sure that customers, who have 6½" tyres and when renewing by 7" tyres, will not be able to put them on to their carriers, and therefore it is essential that we should know the position as quickly as possible to enable us to get going.
