X.8797 - THICKER ARMATURE COVER PLATE FOR WATFORD MAGNETOS.

Reference your Mxl/T1.12.26. The explanation of this is probably that this particular magneto has already had a fair amount of running on our experimental cars. It is quite definitely reported by our testers in several instances, that magnetos with this cover plate are on the whole somewhat quieter than those without. I think we have done the wrong thing in sending you the whole magneto. We are therefore returning to you the plate and the H.T. pick-up which goes with it, and we suggest you try one of the magnetos on a production car as at present, with this plate and pick-up fitted.

The parts in question can readily be exchanged (for the purposes of the tests).
