contd :- -3- front suspension, i.e. 1a, is worse than the Silver Ghost, though the springs on each car have the same rating. We attribute this to the difference in mass distribution between the Phantom and Silver Ghost, and this is borne out by Test 111., we push the weight back and get better riding. One other point this demonstrates is that the Silver Ghost is not as good as the 20 HP. and only a little better than the Phantom. Actually we have tested a large number of Silver Ghosts and Phantoms as they come from customers, and in several cases consider that the Phantoms were the better riding cars. Other factors have swalled up the initial advantages possessed by the Silver Ghost. TEST V.{VIENNA} This shews the affect of altering the setting of the rear shock dampers. TEST VI. Confirms the fact that the hydraulic shock dampers on the front of the car are not perjudicial to riding comfort. The graph of the calibration of the tests is necessary because the amount of water lost is not proportional to the riding comfort. When a good deal of water has been spilt it takes a very bad car to increase the loss to any great extent. We consider that these and other tests we have conducted effectively establish the fact that - (a) Our front wheel brake axles and springs have not made a very great difference to the riding of the car. (b) Both the Silver Ghost and Phantom contd :- | ||
