desirous of working as near as possible to the Output Chart to avoid surplus material lying about the Works, since the Works have been told on several occasions in the past that they have produced more parts than they should have done, with the result that if R.{Sir Henry Royce} wished an alteration to be brought in D.O had reported that if such alteration were adopted scrap would be made in some cases to the extent of £400 and even more larger amounts than this.

Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} enquired if it would be in order for Crankshafts for the second batch of 250 chassis to be delivered as under:-
60 on December 20th,
120 early in January next year,
70 early in February next year.

Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and Sft.{Mr Swift} agreed that if Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} considers this necessary they had no objection, but they emphasized the fact that the Works only required six weeks in advance of production.
Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} mentioned the question of Radiators but it was decided that these remain in Class A.{Mr Adams}

By this week-end, Nov. 11th., the Works should put on test in accordance with the Output Chart 5 chassis, and Sft.{Mr Swift} stated that as far as the Works side were concerned we should be able to do this, but unfortunately quite a number of items had not been delivered by the D.O. which he thought would prevent us from doing this. He gave details to the Conference of the parts in question, and particulars of same are attached, so that D.O. can look into same. Sft.{Mr Swift} reported that he had had to produce various parts in the Shops owing to D.O. being unable to deliver same and of course this increased the labour cost as far as the Works are concerned, when really the material should bear this burden.

CJ. instructed that a report must be sent to him weekly showing what departments are behind with their part of the programme which prevents chassis being put on test in accordance with the Output Chart.

To avoid correspondence and explanations Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} stated that all departments must agree with the report before same is sent to CJ. each week.

Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} mentioned that he was getting certain alterations from D.O. which were causing delay in the delivery of parts. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} was surprised to hear this as no alterations had been put before him and he stated that attention should be called to the Minutes of Conference held at Midland Hotel, Derby, on the 25th. ult. when, under Item I, it will be seen that:-
" It was decided that Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} should be sole arbiter as to when and where new parts should be introduced into any series."

To avoid any delay will all concerned kindly see that this instruction is carried out in future.
