BENTLEY 50. OIL PUMP, DRIVE, FILTER & SUMP.

Please receive herewith

E.CD.550 Bottom Half Crankcase, Oil Pump, Suction Filter and etc. Bentley 50.

The general layout of the oiling system follows as close as it is practicable the projected layout as shown on FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}120/1, except that we have lowered the position of the oil pump to improve the priming.

The capacity of the oil pump is the same as the Wraith 111 pump.

The suction filter is a B.W.P. product 4.437 dia. bought out complete, the maker's blueprints of this are in the engine design section.

The engine overflow oil is all returned to the central chamber of the sump.

As the oil delivery pipe from pump to crankcase gallery is very short and rigid, we have had to stiffen up the neck of the oil pump casing to withstand heavy spanner loads which may be necessary to tighten the union nut. It is intended that the sump be produced as an alum. die casting, and we should be pleased to receive from RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/CAN. any suggestion to facilitate the die casting.

Will you please detail and instruct experimentally.
