(3) Slight Clutch Jaggers.

The general complaint is the uneven take-up of the clutch when manoeuvring in traffic. The recent test with 35-EX in the London traffic with a new centre plate has not proved successful, squeaks and jaggers developed. Further tests are to be made.

(4) Valve Tappets Noisy.

The lack of oil to the rocker shaft at low speeds on the first cars out was found to be due to an error in the manufacture of the main release valve. The correction of this overcame the trouble. There have been noisy valves which could not be cured by the hydraulic tappets. The Paris trials car was an example.

(5) Gearbox.

N.Sch.4824 has been tried and passed into production to overcome the second gear coming out of mesh. The third gear is still receiving the attention of the Exptl. Dept.

(6) Hand Brake Lever Failures.

This has been caused by the bell crank levers in the hand lever binding, there not being sufficient end clearance in the anchorages. This has been rectified. The load of the pull-off springs for the ratchet is on the weak side. A slight increase of this load would not affect the finger plunger for releasing the ratchet.

(7) Inefficient Front Braking.

The fouling of the mechanism inside the brake drum and the general operation of the front brake has received the attention of the Design Dept., and the necessary modifications are now being carried out.
