R.R. 235A (100 T) (S H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 159, 11-8-20) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2809 POST WAR GERMAN BOSCH (at £16) IS THE BEST WE KNOW OF. MUCH SUPERIOR TO WATFORD (£14). WATFORD DESIGNING A BETTER ONE (AFTER THREATS). CAN WE USE A GERMAN UNIT ? AT 1919 OLYMPIA, NONE FITTED; OR ALLOWED? CAN WE WAIT FOR A BETTER WATFORD ? To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to CJ. c. to EW. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to PN.{Mr Northey} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to C. c. to H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} ORIGINAL RECEIVED Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/LG15.11.20. * POST WAR BOSCH-GERMAN. X.42 RE - MAGNETOS. X.2375 We have received a further six post-war German Bosch Magnetos and find that the quality of them is equal to the first sample. There is no doubt we have got to admit the German Bosch Magneto is the best we know of. Sometime ago we wrote to the Watford people telling them that we were testing a post-war German Bosch Magneto and found it much better than the Magnetos they were supplying us with. We stated that they could not possibly expect to retain our business if they did not supply us with a magneto which was equal to the German Bosch. We should like to know if there are any objections to us fitting a German made article to our chassis.* We believe that at the last Olympia show, no German goods were allowed to be exhibited - we certainly did not see a car fitted with a German Magneto. We believe the Watford people are designing another magneto to suit our requirements but we doubt whether we can wait until they have proved out their machine before we make a change. The German Bosch Magneto costs approx: £16 compared with £14 approx: for the Watford. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
