To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} from HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} 354. HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}7/VS.{J. Vickers}22.4.37. MODIFIED TAPPET BLOCK AND CLAMP LeC.5371. We have discussed with RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/Cy. the question of cost regarding the above, and give below for your perusal his remarks. "We have looked into this job and find that a saving of 15/-d per chassis can be effected by die casting and reducing the number of parts. We have also discussed with E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} the shape of the clamp, who has agreed to a modification reducing the excessive clearance in the fork. The anti-rotation device, while costing slightly more to produce, will definitely cut out the adjusting by filing, which is now necessary. We therefore recommend the adoption of this scheme". A set of these tappet blocks is fitted to Phantom III No. 8. Unit. HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} | ||
