X.4021. WATFORD MAGNETOS TYPE IS.12 (SP.{Mr Spinney}12-2)
NOS. 98033/4.

The above are the two magnetos that were used for a previous "F" engine type test. The right-hand member of the pair namely 98034 had always been inferior in performance to its left-hand fellow 98033. We explained this matter to Messrs. North and returned 98034 and they brought this machine up-to-date by the provision of the new and more up-to-date armature.

Mr.Jaques is now anxious to use this pair of magnetos but brought completely up-to-date with new armatures (such as has recently been done in the case of the other pair Nos. 83119/20 which are now with us again and earmarked for the "H" engine type test).

We are therefore sending these two machines into the Stores for return together to Messrs.North and will you please write them to the effect that we wish to have machine 98033 fitted with new armature and thus brought up-to-date in a similar way. We are returning 98034 with 98033 merely for the reason that we think Messrs.North would care to compare and balance up the performance of the two machines one with the other.

The matter is urgent and we should be pleased if you could arrange for these machines to be despatched this morning.

EFC.
