( 2 ) II) Petrol Tanks. Leak from seam. JBM 2 Cases Average mileage.... 10,000 ================= 1) This complaint was cured by the use of porcelain plugs. Owners' cars fitted with Champion plugs have had no recurrent complaint. 2) Reviewing brake complaints generally, the lay out of the brake system lends itself to many faults. The failure of lubrication, uneven strength of springs, poor bedding of brake shoes, slack in pins, seizing up of anchorages, are petty faults which cause trouble. Steps have been taken to ensure eleminating some of these faults. Careful attention in the fitting up of the brake mechanism would and could cure many of the faults. 3) The clutch jaggers have come about through inaccuracies in the manufacture of the clutches. These have been rectified and a closer supervision is being kept. 4) The dynamo drives rattles resulted from inaccurate machining of the drive aluminium castings causing the rubber blocks to scrub. The present die castings are smoother in the recesses for the rubber blocks and are in alignement. It is becoming well known that Lucas components are not reliable and give trouble. In the past, it has taken a long while to obtain satisfactory alterations. Ammeters sticking is due to too large a discharge going through the meter. This has been reported, but so far no rectification has been made. Dynamo failures are caused by faulty fuses, faulty voltage control unit, and sticking brushes. 5) The new K.L.G. K.7 Bosch type is a hotter plug and tests have proved that they are less liable to oil up. 6) Faulty starting from cold has been due to sticking choke throttle, weak return of springs, and faulty spindles has been the chief cause. 7) Steering. The faults have been chiefly to steerings before being modified, wandering was due to faulty lubrication to pivots. | ||
