RE PHANTOM REAR WHEEL & LUGGAGE CARRIER.

We have been informed by "Sales" that the policy which has been agreed to by them, in conformity with Mr Royce's wishes, is that the complete rear wheel carrier will be fitted as standard and free of charge to all cars, and that the luggage carrier for use with the same will be offered as an extra.

In the few cases where the customer refuses to have the rear wheel carrier and insists on having a luggage grid only, "Sales" agree to our suggestion that we can offer him the petrol tank protecting grid at a rather larger cost than that charged for the grid belonging to the combined scheme, in order to cover the special work and fitting.

To make this scheme possible we shall arrange to make the petrol tank protecting grid go on to the same drilling in the main frame as that used for fixing the extension pressings for the combined scheme. As far as we can see this can be easily arranged for.

We would be glad if Derby would send us, by return, a sketch shewing the drilling for the extension pressings in the main side channel, when we will send a scheme for adapting the design given on N.Sch.2286.

We suggest that, before doing this, you will decide how you propose to move the entire wheel and grid .550 ins. aft, as requested by "Sales" and asked for in our Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M 12.8.27. to which we have had no reply.
