I shall be coming over towards the end of November with the Bentley, after which I shall probably wend my way slowly to Detroit. We have recently done some quite interesting research work on the increase of power output without the use of a supercharger which would interest you. I am commissioned to buy a 12 cylinder motor car while in America and bring it back with me. I hope the 12 cylinder Cadillac will be so unquestionably the best that I shall have no difficulty in coming to a decision. Synchromesh now seems to have been adopted by all manufacturers in England who have not gone for the Wilson box. Ours works remarkably well, and on a car like the Bentley with a close ratio gearbox it is a joy to operate; I hope you will agree with me when you try it. We are struggling away with the silent tappets, but have not had the courage to put them in production as yet. Taking everything into consideration, we are not sure that the overhead camshaft may not be the best of a number of evils. It gives you the | ||
