81282 To S.M. from Rg.{Mr Rowledge} " Nom. " Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} " Syp. " Apy. Rg.{Mr Rowledge}4/DM.{D. Munro}12.7.33. I yesterday attended the joint meeting of the A.R.C.-S.B.A.C. as suggested by F.{Mr Friese} Previously I saw Mr. Wood and he confirmed that we may use the new fuel for the Goshawk tests as was originally arranged. I understand interim specifications are in existence for two new fuels, which we will call A.{Mr Adams} and B. The A.{Mr Adams} fuel is the one for us to use on Goshawk type tests and the B. fuel will be available as soon as we are prepared to use it. Mr. Wood told me that supplies of both these fuels are available and can be obtained from either the Shell Mex or the Anglo American Co. Fuel A.{Mr Adams} does not contain lead and will have a knock rating on the C.F.R. engine of 76 to 78 and is measured at 260°F inlet temperature. This is a considerable improvement on D.T.D.134 at present standard. Fuel B. will contain lead and will have an octane rating of 84 to 87 measured under the same conditions. This information rather lessened the importance of the A.R.C.-S.B.A.C. meeting, though the meeting was quite interesting. Rg.{Mr Rowledge} | ||
