Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}1/KT.21.10.31. Re. Rolled Eye Front Road Springs fitted to 19.G.IV. The condition of the springs when dismantled was very good, the leaves were amply lubricated. An oil test taken however of the rolled eye showed that 50% of the oil supplied escaped past the feed pipe from the rolled eye to the leaves. This small brass pipe is pressed into a hole drilled in the eye and evidently does not remain a sealed joint. We understand that the drilling and fitting of this feed pipe was executed by the spring manufacturers. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
