24094 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}19/KW. 17th September, 1934. Your Ref: SCS/AGS/CB. The Adamant Engineering Co.Ltd., Dallow Road, LUTON. For the attention of S. Carlton Smith Esq. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of 13th September. We agree that the D.7 size steering column is too small for our 25 HP. chassis and we have accordingly investigated the possibility of fitting the L.7 size column. We find that it is just possible to fit this column as shown on the attached print Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1515. Our Mr. W.A. Robotham telephoned you to-day and asked you to send us an L.7 R.H. type column as soon as possible. As can be seen from the attached print, it will be necessary to remove the oil filler plug and its boss in order to clear the carburetter. We have sketched an improvised oil filler that will clear the carburetter. The method by which we propose to hold the steering box to the frame is also shown. It is impossible for us to place the steering box further back on the frame as the side steering tube only just clears the spare wheel support on full R.H. lock. | ||
