X.4050. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/AD. 13th August, 1930. The Dunlop Rubber Co. Fort Dunlop, Erdington, Birmingham. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Bond. With reference to your letter of the 11th inst. We have now done sufficient work on the modified silent tread tyre to say that the second type of tyre which you submitted having an increased number of transfers grooves in the tread has proved to be the better of the two. We ourselves therefore, are carrying out tests for wear etc. on this type of tyre and should like you to concentrate your tests upon this modified tread. As soon as we have completed our 10,000 mile test on these tyres it is very possible that they will be standardised in place of the silent tread. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
