| X21 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}:7/KT.20.11.33. BENTLEY FLYWHEEL. We do not think we should be worried by flywheel vibrations if we use a disc flywheel common to most American cars. We find we can try this by making use of the Borg & Beck clutch in the stores. We send you herewith Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1212 showing a disc flywheel. Owing to its small inertia (just over 1/3 of existing 20/25) it is most necessary to incorporate a spring driven clutch. We have shewn a means of getting one in by altering the clutch fingers, and think it will work in spite of the small clearances. The new parts required, and modifications necessitated are :- (1) Flywheel disc. (2) Spring Drive. (3) Thrust face of withdrawal mechanism. (4) New 1st. motion shaft. (5) Ball race further into crankshaft. (6) Modified clutch fingers. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
