With reference to your note Na{Mr Nadin}3/K6219 Re Broken Crankshafts, when we had the first American Crankshaft broken we sent you the number of the Crankshaft and full particulars - you replied in your Na{Mr Nadin}1/K211218 that you did not agree with Mr. Hall's criticism of the steel from the analysis, you also said you would like Mr. Olley to see this shaft and to look into the matter.

My note EH3/LG13119 was only intended as a preliminary report, a copy should not have been sent to you, it was sent off before we had dismantled the crankshaft with the idea of preparing people that there was a risk with the American Crankshafts.

Since then Mr. Olley has been given all particulars - he has been given the section of the crankshafts which have broken. He wished to have these because he was going to consult Mr. Royce on the matter. We assume that if there had been any need for any action to have been taken, Mr. Olley or Mr. Royce would have seen that this was done.

EH.
